El delegado del Gobierno Vasco en Estados Unidos y Canadá participará en la Climate Week de Nueva York

El delegado del Gobierno Vasco en Estados Unidos y Canadá, Ander Caballero, junto con los representantes de regiones, países y estados de California, Gales, Rhone Alpes, Baden-Württemberg y Quebec, entre otros componentes de la alianza The Climate Group que en Europa preside Euskadi, participará en la Semana del Clima de Nueva York 2015 que se inicia el próximo día 22 para la búsqueda de un acuerdo climático exitoso en la cumbre que Naciones Unidas celebrará en diciembre en Paris. Hasta el 28 de septiembre, se desarrollarán en Nueva York los encuentros  Climate Week y la Cumbre de Desarrollo Sostenible bajo el auspicio de la ONU.

 El Gobierno Vasco, a través de su Delegación neoyorkina, está presente en algunos de los eventos más importantes durante estos días en los que líderes mundiales debaten sobre cómo programar las políticas medioambientales, económicas y sociales  para alcanzar los objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).

 El Gobierno Vasco, como copresidente de la Alianza de Estados y Regiones de The Climate Group para Europa, participa también, representado por Ander Caballero, en el evento principal de la Semana del Clima de Nueva York 2015, que tendrá lugar el día 28, con el lema “Asegurar el Dividendo de Paris: Liderazgo e innovación para una economía sostenible”. El Papa Francisco dedicará un llamamiento a la conservación del planeta coincidiendo con la semana.

 El día de los Estados y las regiones se desarrollará el 22 de septiembre con un especial apoyo divulgativo  en redes sociales  ( #Statesandregions y @ClimateGroup, además del nuevo canal digital channel Climate TV:

Signing Ceremony for the “Under 2 MOU” Climate Change Agreement

Event hosted by California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. welcoming new global signatories to the Under 2 MOU, a Subnational Global Climate Leadership Memorandum of Understanding. The Under 2 MOU is a first-of-its-kind agreement amongst states, provinces and other subnational jurisdictions from around the world to limit the increase in global average temperature to below 2 degrees Celsius. The pact builds momentum, strengthens collaboration and provides a template for the world's nations to follow as work continues on an international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions ahead of the COP in Paris.
