La Viceconsejería de Seguridad es responsable de la organización policial y la seguridad pública en el País Vasco. Le corresponde el mando directo de la Ertzaintza, y las funciones atribuidas al Departamento de Seguridad en el ámbito de la seguridad de las personas, bienes y seguridad ciudadana, coordinación de policías locales, seguridad privada, protección civil y emergencias, meteorología, tráfico y seguridad vial, así como el régimen de los juegos de azar y de los espectáculos y actividades recreativas.

The platforms of the Ertzaintza in social networks today launch the awareness campaign on the fight against cyber crime in the context of the European project ENGAGE, one of the projects funded by the European Union which the Basque police are involved in. It is about raising awareness and involving citizens and companies in the fight against crime committed using new technologies, the increasing numbers of which constitute one of the major police prevention challenges.
