The Basque Country showcases its technological and innovative strengths at the Mobile World Congress 2025

  • The Euskadi - Basque Country stand at the Mobile World Congress is situated within the Four Years From Now (4YFN) startup ecosystem zone, with support from the Basque Government through SPRI and the Local Authorities at provincial level.
  • Boasting over 900 technology-driven and innovative companies, 6,000 jobs created, and a turnover of 350 million, the Basque Country is establishing itself as a global hub for entrepreneurship and startups.
  • Under the slogan 'Innovation Land,' 16 startups will showcase the Up!Euskadi entrepreneurial ecosystem at the Basque Country stand, with the support of the SPRI Group and Basque Local Authorities.

  

The Basque Country is presenting itself as a hub of technology and innovation at the Mobile World Congress 2025, the global epicentre of new technologies and connectivity, taking place from 3 to 6 March in Barcelona. The Euskadi - Basque Country stand, located in the Four Years From Now (4YFN) 2025 startup ecosystem area, is centred around the slogan ‘Innovation Land,’ showcasing the innovative technological capabilities of 16 Basque startups. The Basque Country's participation at the fair is supported by the Basque Government through the SPRI Group and Basque Local Authorities. The goal is to highlight its innovative, technological, and entrepreneurial ecosystem, featuring disruptive solutions across sectors such as Clean Energy & Sustainability, Health Tech, Sportstech, Intelligent Industry, and more.

Attendees at the Mobile World Congress are invited to visit the Euskadi stand (8.1B11 in Hall 8.1) to explore its innovation platform, Up!Euskadi. This platform brings together over 900 startups, 700 technology companies, and a broad network of research centres, investors and strong institutional support. The Basque business ecosystem has become an internationally recognised model for fostering innovation and competitiveness, driven by a public-private partnership that involves all key stakeholders in the sector.

The Basque agenda for these three days will be packed with activities, including various institutional meetings, particularly with Acció - the Catalonia Agency for Enterprise Competition, as well as discussions with internationally recognised technology companies, start-ups, investment groups and representatives from the innovation and entrepreneurship sectors across different countries.

The Basque Country delegation is led by Jaione Ganzarain, Basque Deputy Minister for Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation; Ainara Basurko, Director of Local Enterprise Development at the Bizkaia Local Authority; Ane Insausti, Director of Local Enterprise Development and Strategic Projects at the Gipuzkoa Local Authority; and Ander Larrinaga, Director of Local Enterprise Development and Innovation at the Araba Local Authority.

Also representing the Basque Government are Ane Miren de Ariño, Director of Entrepreneurship and Internationalisation; Elixabete García, Director of Digital Transformation; and Alberto Fernández, Director of Technology and Innovation. They are accompanied by Unai Andueza, Director of Local Enterprise Development at the Gipuzkoa Local Authority, Koldo Peciña, Director General for Strategic Projects at the Gipuzkoa Local Authority; and Joseba Mariezkurrena, Director General for Enterprise, Talent and Competition at Bizkaia Local Authority.

 

Sixteen Basque startups will showcase their solutions at 4YFN.

As part of the Euskadi - Basque Country stand, 16 startups from Gipuzkoa, Araba and Bizkaia are showcasing their innovative solutions in sectors such as energy, health, education and manufacturing throughout 4YFN.

In energy and sustainability, the Biscayan startup Aresar Manufacturing specialises in developing its own electric commercial vehicles for urban services and last-mile logistics. Meanwhile, the Araba-based company Seaquenz focuses on developing electrical products for the aviation and wind energy sectors.

A total of five Basque startups are showcasing their innovative solutions in health and sports at this event. This includes Fisify, a Biscayan startup that demonstrates how artificial intelligence can be used to prevent musculoskeletal pain; Miramoon Pharma, a Gipuzkoa-based startup focused on developing drugs for neurodegenerative and rare diseases; Naiz Band, an Araba company that has created a social network for athletes; and Pozik, a Gipuzkoa company specialising in psychometrics, artificial intelligence and mental illness prevention. Finally, Psifiacos, an Araba-based startup, has developed software for the detection and monitoring of individuals with eating disorders.

In the education and talent acquisition sector, two startups will showcase their solutions. Amazinglers, an Araba-based company, has developed a platform designed to introduce young talent to the labour market. Meanwhile, Konexio, a Biscayan company, has created a digital portal to streamline the integration of technological profiles into businesses.

In the smart industry and e-commerce sectors, attendees can explore six innovative technological projects. This includes Kimaiwi Digital Innovations, an Araba-based start-up that develops online solutions for the tourism sector; Neety, a Gipuzkoa-based start-up that uses artificial intelligence to automate the sales process for companies; Novaut, an emerging Araba company that has created an industrial marketplace specialising in components and spare parts; Riskless Integral, a Bizkaia-based company designing solutions to automate company security; and Woonderwoo, a Gipuzkoa-based company offering solutions to optimise the management of online shops.

Digital platforms will also be showcased, including Aloka, a Gipuzkoa-based company specialising in the rental of audiovisual equipment, and Yorsio, which has developed the first real estate co-ownership platform.

 

Agenda and Spaces for Connecting Start-ups, Institutions and Investors

4YFN is the ideal platform to strengthen international connections and collaborations, explore ecosystems and showcase new technologies to a global audience. In its exhibition and networking space, Euskadi will host internationally renowned technology companies, start-ups, investment groups and representatives from the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship from around the world. Additionally, throughout the event, all participants in the Basque innovation ecosystem, along with the start-ups, will have the opportunity to attend various networking sessions and take part in investment and innovation activities, including CaixaBank's Investor Matchmaking and Banco Santander's Side Event. On the other hand, in the Public Innovation space organised by Banco Sabadell, representatives from the Araba and Gipuzkoa Local Authorities will present innovative programmes such as Ziur, Mubil, Quantum, and Govtech. Yesterday, the Bizkaia Local Authority presented its industrial strategy in quantum technology, Biqain, at the Telefónica space.
