2025 February 27
  • This morning in Zamudio, President Imanol Pradales and President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez inaugurated the ITP Aero ADMIRE Center, backed by a 24 million euro investment and the creation of over 150 skilled jobs. This centre will foster innovation and sustainability in the aviation sector in the Basque Country.
  • "The aeronautical and aerospace sector is a key symbol of our advanced industry and strategic capabilities. It drives our well-being by creating quality jobs, attracting and nurturing talent, and energising the local supply chain," highlighted Basque President Imanol Pradales.

This morning, Basque President Imanol Pradales, alongside President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez, inaugurated ITP Aero’s new ADMIRE (Advanced Manufacturing Aerospace Center), a state-of-the-art facility. This leading centre for sustainable aeronautics will create over 150 highly qualified jobs and further strengthen the Basque Country’s position as a leader in the aerospace sector.

With a 24 million euro investment, the ADMIRE Center at ITP Aero’s headquarters in Zamudio will focus on researching new materials, developing highly complex components and enhancing repair technologies. This initiative aims to provide innovative solutions to meet the rapid growth of commercial aviation and the evolving needs of the sector.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Imanol Pradales highlighted the strategic importance of the aeronautical and aerospace sector in the Basque Country. He stated: "The aeronautical and aerospace sector is a symbol of our advanced industry and strategic capabilities. It drives our well-being by creating quality employment, attracting and promoting talent, energising the local supply chain through SMEs, and investing in research and development to explore new opportunities in digital and ecological transformation.”

A testament to this commitment to innovation and sustainability is the new ADMIRE Center, which integrates advanced manufacturing technology with sustainability principles. President Imanol Pradales recalled that “in 2023, a Boeing 787 flew for the first time from London to New York using 100% sustainable fuel, and the Basque Country was part of that historic milestone, with technology designed, produced, and assembled by ITP Aero—technology ‘Made in the Euskadi.’”

In his speech, President Pradales emphasised that “we are on the verge of major advancements in disruptive technologies that will transform the way we travel and move across the planet. ITP Aero has embarked on an exciting journey towards the aviation of the future, turning the demand for decarbonisation into a competitive opportunity.”

Pradales also highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions, companies, and technology and training centres in driving technological advances that reduce the carbon footprint of air transport. He stressed the need to promote innovative and sustainable alternatives, such as more efficient engines.

The Basque Government's commitment to this project goes beyond supporting business development; it is a strong dedication to the future of the sector. According to the President, “Europe is set to make a strong commitment to protecting its industrial base. The aeronautical and aerospace sector is poised to play a leading role in the European industrial revival, and ITP Aero is one of the key companies driving this.”

In conclusion, President Imanol Pradales emphasised that the Basque Country has always been able to adapt to circumstances and maintain its competitiveness: “Throughout history, our people have known how to anticipate the future. And I am confident that we will succeed once again. With our feet on the ground, aware of our size, but never abandoning our ambition.”
