SPRI and the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro sign a partnership agreement in the fields of technology and business
• The Basque Government's Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, and the Attorney General for Justice of the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro, Cláudio Soares, have signed a partnership framework agreement this morning.
• The objective is to lay out the foundations of a close long-term collaboration in areas such as technology and knowledge transfer, and partnership projects between Brazilian and Basque companies and administration. The agreement likewise seeks to stimulate private-public partnership between both regions.
• Cláudio Soares, representing the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro, will be visiting the three Basque provincial capitals until next Thursday and will hold meetings with representatives from different departments, local stakeholders and leading companies, such as Euskaltel, Ibermática and Bilbomática, all of which belong to the Electronics, Computer and Telecommunications Cluster of the Basque Country (GAIA-TEIC Cluster).
2 April 2012.- The Basque Government's Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, and the Attorney General for Justice of the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro, Cláudio Soares, signed a partnership agreement at the seat of the Basque Government in Vitoria-Gasteiz this morning. This agreement is between the Department for Industry, through the SPRI, and the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro in the field of ICTs applied to the justice administration and the public administration in general.
The agreement is expected to open up partnership opportunities between Basque and Brazilian institutions in the aforementioned areas.
This collaboration seeks to implement joint projects, involving administrations, companies and society, where Basque and Brazilian companies will tackle future challenges and share know-how and technology. These projects aim to be international benchmarks in the fields of justice, education, heritage, environment and protecting citizens, particularly children and adolescents.
The agreement also envisages collaboration initiatives related to e-government, the development of the Information Society, the generation of new economic areas, Research and Development, or skills and training, among others.
In order to get the aforementioned projects up and running, both the Department for Industry of the Basque Government, in conjunction with GAIA-TEIC Cluster, and the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro will facilitate the exchange of good practices and knowledge transfer in organisational or technical areas by means of technical visits, missions, seminars, sector conferences, etc.
In fact, the Attorney General for Justice of the Public Ministry of the State of Río de Janeiro, Cláudio Soares, will have a full schedule of meetings and work sessions during his trip in the Basque Country that ends on Thursday 5 April.
Soares will meet with representatives of Institutions (Department for Industry, Department for Justice and Public Administration, or the Basque Data Protection Agency). He will also speak to local stakeholders and representatives from Basque electronics, IT and telecommunications companies belonging to GAIA, and leading local companies in the sector, such as Ibermática, Euskaltel or Bilbomática.
With a population over 15 million people, the Brazilian State of Río de Janeiro is the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the whole of Brazil. And it has the second largest economy in Brazil, after Sao Paolo.
