The 13th Legislature of the Basque Government’s Ministers were officially sworn in.

2024 June 25

The 15 Ministers who make up the Government of the 13th Legislature commenced their duties this morning in a ceremony held at the Ajuria Enea Palace. They have fulfilled their obligations in accordance with the traditional formula and the Statute of Gernika. They have assumed their roles in the service of the Basque Country and have promised to "faithfully and loyally fulfil, in accordance with the law, the obligations of the office.”

The event was attended by President of the Basque Country Imanol Pradales, who commenced the ceremony by reading the appointment decrees. Also in attendance were the President of the Parliament, Bakartxo Tejería, and members of the Bureau of the Basque Chamber.

In his speech following the swearing-in of all ministers, the President began by addressing the new team members, thanking them for their commitment to the Basque Country and making a plea to them: “I urge you to take the initiative. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. In terms of enhancing the quality of life for people in the Basque Country, it is important to persevere. I have always believed that it is better to make a mistake for having tried than to regret not having taken the step.” He also stated that it was important to set an example: "Adopt a rigorous approach to governance in a pluralistic and diverse Basque Country.”

He went on to say that to achieve this objective, they would be working on a triple agenda: The new Welfare, Euskadi Global and Euskadi Humanista agendas will be essential to reconnect with Basque society in both the political and emotional spheres.

Pradales concluded his remarks by emphasising the need to move forward, update and improve autonomous government, and definitively fulfil the Statute of Gernika. He also underscored the importance of collaborating with political parties to reach a new Statutory Pact that builds upon the consensus achieved in 1979.

The event concluded with addresses by the Ministers who have been appointed to the new Basque Executive.

    Luce bien en la playa, pero:
    La han exigido en aquellos actos oficiales en los que se utiliza la autonómica, como en la toma de posesión de consejeros vascos, donde nuestra Constitución OBLIGADA SU PRESENCIA, según su art 4.2 https://t.co/qBn8DM78W3.?

    @Vox_Ceuta Le preguntaron por qué no está en la toma posesión del gobierno vasco si es obligatoria junto a la vasca?

    @DelGobPaisVasco / @SubGobAlava :
    Por qué los Consejeros del Gobierno Vasco toman posesión en acto oficial utilizando la bandera autonómica sin la de España, cuando con ello se incumple la CE, Art. 4.2?

    Se utiliza la bandera de la Comunidad Autónoma sin que esté junto a ella la de España; por qué, si nuestra Constitución, artículo 4.2, establece, de forma imperativa, la obligación de utilizar la bandera nacional cuando en acto oficial se utilice la autonómica?
