  • A total of 32 Basque food and beverage companies will be participating in the upcoming Salón Gourmets, which is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors.
  • The Seafood Expo Global seafood and fishery products fair is being held in Barcelona with the participation of 10 leading brands from the Basque Country.

Two of the most significant international food industry events are taking place this week: the Salón Gourmets in Madrid and Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. A total of 30 food and beverage companies from the Basque Country are participating in both events at the Euskadi Basque Country stand, organised by the Basque Government's Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, through HAZI.

This participation is part of the internationalisation and promotion strategy for the Basque agri-food industry, as set out in the 2024 Promotion Plan. The objective is to support companies in finding new markets for the sale of their products.

This morning, the Deputy Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy, Bittor Oroz, and the Director of Food Quality and Industries, Raul Perez Iratxeta, visited the Basque companies that have been participating since yesterday in the 37th Salón Gourmets, which brings together more than 2,000 exhibitors and around 100,000 professional visitors from the distribution, hotel and catering industries.

22 companies are exhibiting at the Euskadi Basque Country stand, with a further ten brands participating individually at the fair in Madrid.

Salón Gourmets is Europe's leading quality food and beverage fair and one of the most prestigious events in the world. It is the ideal platform for high-end trends to be presented and for national and international professionals from the gastronomic sector to meet. This year's Salón Gourmets will feature a strong focus on wine, occupying 33% of the exhibition area. This will be followed by preserves (17%) and other beverages, sweets and confectionery (15%). The total floor space occupied by the Salón Gourmets is 65,000 m².
