The third edition of the Trans-Pyrenees Youth Forum organized by the nine countries and regions that make up the Pyrenees Working Community will take place from next Friday to Sunday, March 24 in the town of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, Nouvelle Aquitaine, with the motto “The mountain economy seen by youth”.

According to Mrs Miren Saratxaga, Director of Youth of the Basque Government, “a total of seventy-two young people from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitaine, Catalonia, Andorra, Aragon, Nafarroa-Navarra and Basque Country/Euskadi - which adds ten girls and boys to the group - will debate the various forms of economic promotion and sustainable development in the mountain area.” Fifteen young people from the local Agrarian High School also participate and two others who promote a television website in Pau.

The meeting will include, among others, Ibon Mendibelzua, Foreign Action of the Basque Government, Jean-Louis Valls, Director of the Pyrenees Work Community, Idoia Arauzo, Youth Coordinator of the CTP and the group of sixty young people who, divided into work groups, they will prepare proposals, projects, and debates.

The two previous editions were held in Jaca and Hondarribia. The Trans-Pyrenean Youth Forum is an initiative that has been organized since 2021 to promote the exchange of practices, dialogue, and collective proposals for cooperation “by young people and for young people.”

This participatory format allows young girls and boys in attendance to contribute to the development of effective policies in their communities. The objective of the Pyrenees-CTP Working Community with the organization of the Forum is “to contribute initiatives and commitments to the development of the Pyrenees, taking into account its challenges and taking advantage of its strengths.”
