The vision of the European Pact for Migration, sexual violence, the pornography law, matters related to the protection of minors and the Barnahus program are other topics discussed between Mrs Melgosa and Mrs Perazzo in Madrid. From Save the Children they have presented to the Minister the main lines of her action to find, in the Basque Government, points of agreement and support.
She has also been told about various issues collected in “Silenciadas”, an analysis of sexual assaults in adolescence prepared from previous research by the University of Granada, carried out by Mrs Carmen Ruiz, teacher and researcher attached to the Department of Sociology.
Nerea Melgosa and her departmental team maintain, as with other organizations, regular contact with Mrs Charo Arranz, director in the Basque Country of Save the Children. In today's meeting Melgosa has gathered a broad vision of the organization's strategy and work.
Study
Just yesterday, Save the Children presented research on sexual violence in adolescence in which it analyses this phenomenon and shows the keys to how to address it from a childhood and adolescence perspective. The study indicates that the number of sexual assaults committed by more than one person has increased in recent years by more than 64%. However, it is still far from the figures for individual sexual assaults, representing 4.2% of the total in 2022.
