The Basque Government, through HAZI, has launched an advertising campaign to promote wines with the Rioja Alavesa label. The slogan 'Soy Rioja Alavesa y mi etiqueta lo dice todo’ aims to encourage consumers to consider the origin of the product as a guarantee of quality and excellence. Rioja Alavesa wines are of high quality and recognised worldwide due to their origin.

The advertising campaign focuses on TV, outdoor advertising, radio, digital press and social media to promote the recognition of Rioja Alavesa wines.

Rioja Alavesa Wines

Rioja Alavesa wine is highly esteemed worldwide due to its unique bioclimatic conditions, rich history, medieval cultural and architectural heritage, and a collection of historic and innovative wineries.

Located in the south of the Basque Country, Rioja Alavesa is an ideal location with picturesque vineyards. Its 310 km2 of red land are divided into 18 municipalities and provide ideal conditions for grape growing due to their adaptability to the soil and climate.

The vineyard benefits from a precise balance of sun and water due to the transition zone between the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates, which is minimised by orographic factors. The humid environment in the north, protected by the peaks of the Sierra de Toloño, converges with the arid southeast.

On the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño, the vines are planted in terraces and small plots in calcareous clay soil facing south to maximise summer light.

Rioja Alavesa wine is made from the grape varieties authorised by the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, the ones that are best suited to the bioclimatic conditions.
