The Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policies of the Basque Government, Mrs Nerea Melgosa, has conveyed today in Bilbao to the Union of Associations of Ukraine-KRAI the “solidarity, support and strength in the fight against the aggression and occupation promoted by Putin and that so much suffering is causing you and all of Europe.”

Ms. Melgosa has participated in the opening of the First Congress of the Union of Ukrainian Associations that is taking place today in Bilbao and has thanked its president in the Basque Country, Oksana Demyanovych, for choosing “Bilbao and the Basque Country as the setting for their congress.”

Together with the director of Migration and Asylum of the Basque Government, Xabier Legarreta, Sailburu (Minister, basque language) Nerea Melgosa has indicated that “this land, Basque Country/Euskadi, knows well what a military aggression like the one you are experiencing means. Almost 80 years ago Franco's coup ended democracy. Many Basque citizens had to flee and seek refuge in other countries. So, although also occupied by the Soviet dictatorship, Ukraine welcomed them.”

“There are the so-called educational centers and dachas on the shores of the Black Sea, in Ukraine, which since 1937 have served numerous Basque girls and boys, along with their teachers and educators, in Kharkiv, Kherson, Odessa and Kiev. We don´t forget that help. Above all, our relatives who suffered so much in their childhood and youth. That is why we are especially sensitive to the aggression that Ukraine is suffering today,” argued Ms. Nerea Melgosa.

The Minister explained that “those of you who know me know that we have been with you from day one: we participated in caring for those who experienced the Chernobyl situation, in your actions to reject the Russian invasion, in the recent Christmas celebration of San Nicolai or on Shirts Day, in the support of your choirs and cultural activities and in the growing friendship with those who have been living among us for some time."

“Hopefully, Europe, the process for the full inclusion of Ukraine in the Union will soon be completed! This will facilitate many administrative and social procedures. This Congress that you are starting today is going to positively compact this new European society that we are designing, especially here in the Basque Country,” Nerea Melgosa wished to the group attending.

Two objectives

 As detailed by Oksana Demyanovych at the meeting held at the Abando District Municipal Office, the objectives of the event “were two: to thank the Basque authorities for their collaboration and the help offered to refugees, to third-party entities sector and to professionals and civil society who work with these groups. And strengthen the alliances established to continue offering aid to Ukraine and the collective of Ukrainian people; and the presentation of KRAI's action plans at the First National Congress of the Union of Ukrainian Associations-KRAI and at the photographic exhibition of the photographer Elena Muyar "The Hope" in the Zubiarte commercial hopping center.

Міністр рівності, юстиції та соціальної політики Уряду Басків пані Нереа Мелгоса передала сьогодні в Більбао Союзу асоціацій Україна-КРАЙ «солідарність, підтримку та силу в боротьбі з агресією та окупацією, яку просуває Путін». і що так багато страждань завдає вам і всій Європі».

Пані Мелгоса взяла участь у відкритті Першого з’їзду Союзу Українських Об’єднань, що відбувається сьогодні в Більбао, і подякувала його президенту в Країні Басків Оксані Дем’янович та Послу Сергію Погорельцеву за вибір «Більбао і Країну Басків». як місце для їхнього конгресу».

Разом із директором відділу міграції та надання притулку баскського уряду Хаб’єром Легарретою Сейлбуру, Нереа Мелгоса зазначила, що «ця земля, Країна Басків/Еускаді, добре знає, що означає військова агресія, подібна до тієї, яку ви зазнаєте. . Майже 80 років тому державний переворот Франко поклав край демократії. Багато баскських громадян були змушені тікати та шукати притулку в інших країнах. Тож, хоч і окупована радянською диктатурою, Україна прийняла їх».

«На березі Чорного моря в Україні існують так звані виховні центри та дачі, які з 1937 року обслуговують багатьох баскських дівчат і хлопців разом із їхніми вчителями та вихователями в Харкові, Херсоні, Одесі та Києві. Ми не забуваємо про цю допомогу. Перш за все наших рідних, які так багато вистраждали в дитинстві та юності. Тому ми особливо чутливі до агресії, якої сьогодні зазнає Україна», – зазначила пані Нереа Мелгоса.

Міністр пояснила, що «ті з вас, хто мене знає, знають, що ми були з вами з першого дня: ми брали участь у піклуванні про тих, хто пережив Чорнобильську ситуацію, у ваших діях, щоб відкинути російське вторгнення, у нещодавньому святкуванні Різдва, Святого Миколая або в День сорочки, в підтримку ваших хорів і культурних заходів і в зростаючій дружбі з тими, хто вже деякий час живе серед нас».

«Сподіваємось, Європо, процес повного входження України до Союзу незабаром завершиться! Це полегшить багато адміністративних і соціальних процедур. Цей Конгрес, який ви розпочинаєте сьогодні, позитивно ущільнить це нове європейське суспільство, яке ми створюємо, особливо тут, у Країні Басків», – побажала Нереа Мелгоса групі присутніх.

Дві цілі

Як розповіла Оксана Дем’янович на зустрічі, що відбулася в муніципальній адміністрації району Абандо, цілі заходу «були дві: подякувати баскській владі за співпрацю та допомогу, надану біженцям, сектору третіх осіб, професіоналам і громадянському суспільству, які працюють з цими групами. І зміцнювати альянси, створені для продовження надання допомоги Україні та колективу українського народу; та презентація планів дій КРАЙ на Першому Національному З’їзді Союзу Асоціацій Україна-Край, та на фотовиставці фотографа Олени Муяр «Надія» в комерційному центрі “ Субіарте”.
