The President (Lehendakari) will travel to Japan in October, as part of the Euskadi-Japan 2023 programme
- The official trip will take place between 10 and 17 October, coinciding with the programming of the Basque Week in Tokyo
The President, Iñigo Urkullu, accompanied by the Secretary General for External Action, Marian Elorza, will travel to Japan on an official visit within the framework of the annual program of Basque-Japanese activities 2023 that aims to give visibility and intensify relations between the Basque Country and Japan and to promote the Basque Country there.
In addition to various meetings in the institutional field, the President will participate, together with the Minister Arantxa Tapia, in the Business Leader Summit to learn first-hand about successful projects of Basque companies in the energy, wind and hydrogen sector.
Together with the Minister Javier Hurtado, he will also take part in the Conference on the promotion and marketing of tourism in the Basque Country , which will bring together a dozen tour operators from the Basque Country.
Forty Basque industrial and tourism companies will travel to Japan.
Basque Week
The Basque Week (www.basqueweek.jp) will take place between 14 and 19 October in the City of Toshima, located in the centre of Metropolitan Tokyo, and will feature two spaces aimed at publicising the Basque identity, its culture, sports and traditions, its tourist attractions and its gastronomy.
The KALEAN program of activities, open to the public and located in the Global Ring square, includes exhibition spaces and participatory workshops in relation to the four themes such as the practice of traditional sports, traditional instruments (txalaparta, alboka,...), cooking workshops and tasting of typical products.
In addition, musical and herri kirolak performances will take place on the main stage.
The BARRUAN space will bring together activities inside the Toshima Civic Centre aimed at professionals in the gastronomy sector.
On October 13, a fusion concert of Japanese Basque music and dance will open the Basque Week at the Toshima Civic Centre.
