The Lehendakari advocates “working as a team” to put the Basque Country in the best possible position to face the challenges of the future
- Iñigo Urkullu attended the event organised to mark the 60th anniversary of the EKIN cooperative
- The Lehendakari highlighted the culture of effort and the courage to start out on the road, “to dare”
The Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, accompanied by the Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, Arantxa Tapia, attended the event organised to mark the 60th anniversary of the EKIN cooperative, a leading company in the manufacture of machines and tools for broaching and rolling, both grooving and high-precision serrations and threads.
At the event that took place in Amorebieta, the Lehendakari shared the importance of having a diversified, innovative and competitive industrial fabric, rooted in our country, capable of offering opportunities and contributing to the wellbeing of the Basque Country. For this reason, he recalled that the institutions have launched initiatives that promote cooperation and public-private collaboration, “because the key lies precisely in working together, in facing the challenges of the future as a team. All of us working towards the same goal: to have the Basque Country in the best possible position to adequately face the challenges of the future”.
During his speech, the Lehendakari also highlighted the culture of effort that “forms part of our DNA”, something that Basque citizens have very much internalised. In Urkullu’s words, without sacrifice and working together, it is difficult to obtain good results, “without effort, practically nothing is possible. We will never regret having tried. Believing in oneself is always worthwhile”. This is why he wanted to highlight the value of starting out on the road, of “daring”. “The Basque Country needs entrepreneurs. People like José Luis Izurza and all those who accompanied him at the time of its foundation and who have given continuity to this cooperative. People who surely made mistakes along the way. But who kept on trying. Time and time again”, he pointed out.
Prior to the institutional ceremony, the attendees visited the factory, where they toured the Showroom, the Refor Zone, the Machine Zone and the Aeronautical Brush Zone to see the work carried out at the plant.
