Mrs. Gotzone Sagardui, Minister of Health, and Mrs. Nerea Melgosa, Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policies of the Basque Government, together with Garbiñe Biurrun, president of the Anesvad Foundation, and the director of eLankidetza- Development Cooperation of the Basque Government, Paul Etcheberry, congratulated Encarnación González, Irdas-, and the Kirika Foundation, considered this year the best entity and track record in development cooperation.
Gotzone Sagardui and Nerea Melgosa attended this afternoon the delivery of the VIII Edition of the Anesvad Foundation Awards held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
Melgosa commented “the Department of Equality, Justice and Social Policies of the Basque Government reserves 25% of the aid funds from eLankidetza, the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation, for projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Health is one of the essential elements to achieve the development of those countries and break with inequalities”.
“Basque cooperation accompanies processes in many countries and territories so that all people achieve sustainable human development and enjoy greater social justice. Despite its proximity, Africa has so far been the great unknown. However, its importance is becoming more and more important,” commented Sailburu Melgosa.

Minister Sagardui highlighted in her speech, “Africa's cultural, economic and social wealth is enormous. It is essential that we support initiatives that accompany people in their development on the African continent”.
The Minister of Health has highlighted the importance of organizations "such as ANESVAD, which work for universal, equitable and quality health care for all people, regardless of their origin or socioeconomic situation".
