Today’s Astekonomia will focus on the moderation of the CPI in November and the boost given to Basque exports
Today’s Astekonomia will focus on the moderation of the CPI in November in the Basque Country, as well as the positive performance of exports of goods abroad. It provides a weekly summary with the most relevant economic indicators of the week, which also focuses on housing sales.
In November, the CPI in the Basque Country stood at 6.5%; four tenths of a percentage point lower than in October. Lower electricity and fuel prices are the main reason for this drop in the general index. However, food prices accelerated again and recorded a rise of 15.0% compared with the previous year.
On the other hand, from January to October this year, exports of goods abroad grew by 29.0%. In total, the figure sold was more than 27 billion euros; a much higher amount than any of the previous years. The improvement is due to the increase in both energy products and other products.
Likewise, in October, housing sales in the Basque Country increased by 24.6% compared to the previous year. In the first ten months of the year, the total number of homes sold was close to 20,500 units; 12.0% more than in the same period last year and the highest figure in the last fifteen years.
This weekly summary, prepared by the Economics Department under the name ‘Astekonomia’, is the basis for a series of one-minute videos aimed at facilitating the dissemination and monitoring of economic news.
