The director of Social Services of the Basque Government, Mrs. Marian Olabarrieta, has presented, in Bilbao with the presence of a group of retired people, the guide "Bizitza Betea". The book informs about the resources -from the full life approach and training processes for the elderly-, aimed at consolidating a community that permanently takes into account the life projects of the elderly.
Olabarrieta has indicated that the “Guide was prepared in collaboration between different agents and situated within the framework of the "Bizitza Betea" project. Likewise, the director thanked the work carried out by the Helduak Adi Association, with the collaboration of Zerbikas and the Hartu Emanak Association.
“It is an expert reference framework for training older people who are empowered, with initiative, supportive and committed to society as a whole”, stated Marian Olabarrieta. "For the first time, our society has a generation of people marked by heterogeneity and diversity, with indices of health, training, experience and life perspective unknown to date."
In the opinion of the director of Social Services of the Basque Government, “new challenges arise that require cooperation between public institutions and associations for the elderly, as well as with the third sector in general, the market, families and communities. We are working there from Agenda Nagusi, designing and promoting projects through Euskadiko Adinekoen Batzordea”.
Among the projects that Marian Olabarrieta has referred to are: Helduak Zabaltzen, to accompany the transformation of social centres for the elderly; Altxor 7.0, which offers information, guidance and personalized support to older people in their life projects; and “Bizitza Betea”, which promotes projects from a full life approach”. All three are part of the new Basque Strategy with the elderly.
The guide provides resources, from the full life approach, to people who accompany training processes for older people and contribute to generating a community of practice and learning on the promotion of life projects of older people, at a national level. Personal or collective, with an impact on their quality of life and well-being, as well as on their participation.
