The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Elena Pérez Barredo, will participate today in Brussels in the events organised on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Social Economy Europe; the group that brings together companies and organisations from the Social Economy in Europe. This visit is also part of the Spanish capital of the Social Economy that Donostia-San Sebastián is set to hold next year.

This commemoration will bring together today the main political leaders of the Social Economy, led by the European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, the Secretary of State for Employment and Social Economy, Joaquín Pérez Rey, and the President of CEPES and Social Economy Europe, Juan Antonio Pedreño.

As detailed by SEE, the main objective of the event is to jointly design a future for the Social Economy in Europe, taking advantage of the potential and opportunities it offers through national and EU public policies and support mechanisms, as well as to support the growth of a European economy that creates quality jobs and sustainable development, attracts talent, promotes innovation, cohesion and fair transitions.

Pérez Barredo’s attendance is also part of the European Capital of the Social Economy that Donostia-San Sebastián is set to hold in 2023 coinciding with the Spanish Presidency of the European Union in the second half of next year and for which an agenda of events is being designed in which all the families that make it up, as well as the different public administrations, will participate.
