The Lehendakari visits the new IDOM headquarters
This morning, the Lehendakari, accompanied by the Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, visited the new IDOM headquarters in Zorrozaurre, Bilbao. The building is noteworthy as a result of its engineering and architecture, based on sustainability and energy savings.
The delegation of the Basque Government, which also included Vice-Ministers Pedro Gómez Damborenea, Juan Goicolea and Xabier Garmendia, wished to become personally acquainted with the IDOM project in Bilbao and were accompanied by the President of IDOM, Fernando Querejeta, the General Director of the company, Luis Rodríguez Llopis, and the Director of the Bilbao office, Alberto Tijero.
During the tour of the building, the architect responsible for its design, Javier Pérez Uribarri, explained the characteristics of the company's new headquarters, which combines the usual elements and innovations. The building, boasting a surface area of 13,000 square meters, is equipped with the latest energy-saving technologies.
Energy-saving sanitary fittings, rain water collection on the roof to provide automatic irrigation of the garden, a system for the automatic regulation of lighting, a façade with large panels enabling a high degree of solar protection and a singular system of diffusion via displacement and air conditioning employing water number amongst the innovative features.
In order to improve the efficiency of resource use, a system of metal beams, in various colours, has been installed, bringing together air conditioning and lighting within a single element. Through all of these measures, energy savings of approximately 60% of the habitual consumption of a building with these characteristics are envisioned.
