The II International Employment Congress and the “Merkalan” Training and Job Fair will have the participation of Danish, German, British and Italian experts

The “II International Employment Congress” and the “Merkalan” Training and Job Fair, to take place in October in Donostia-San Sebastián, will enjoy the participation of Danish, German and Italian experts who will talk about the global challenges and opportunities for creating quality employment, the job management work carried out by the European institutions and business initiatives to create quality positions, among others.
Organised by the Basque Government Ministry of Employment and Social Policies, both events will run on October 21 and 22 at the Kursaal Centre in Donostia-San Sebastián with the participation, among others, of Deb Oxley, CEO of the Employee Ownership Association from the UK; the Italian Fabiola di Loreto, Director General of the Italian Cooperative Confederation; Juan Manuel Sinde, President of the Arizmendiarrieta Foundation; Emma Navarro, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank; and Gary Shaughnessy, President of the Z Zurich Foundation.
As detailed by Marcos Muro, Vice-Minister of Employment and Youth Affairs with the Basque Government, “the participants will include, among other specialists, employment ministry representatives from Denmark who will explain the strategy for quality employment developed in that country, as will the representatives from the Bavarian and Rhode Island Ministries of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family. The Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia with the ILO, Heinz Koller, will also attend the meeting”.
This year, the II International Employment Congress incorporates the Merkalan Training and Job Fair organised by Lanbide at the same Kursaal Conference Centre. The Merkalan Training and Job Fair will promote and enable contact between companies with contracting needs and people who are actively looking for work.
The area will occupy more than 1,000 m2 and its design and content take account of the specific needs of the people who use the Lanbide services.
This international gathering on Employment organised by the Basque Government will have the participation of companies, institutions, social agents, vocational education and university students and young people looking for their first job. Last year the Congress took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
