Social democracy in the 21st Century will form the focus of the Lehendakari's conference in London
The Lehendakari is to travel to London and Oxford on the 7th and 8th of March to deliver a conference and visit the ISIS centre
On the 7th of March, the Lehendakari will open a series of conferences in London with a speech entitled "Social democracy: the 21st century". Taking advantage of his stay in London and accompanied by the Minister for Education, Universities and Research, Isabel Celaá, the Lehendakari will visit the ISIS Spallation Neutron Source to learn more about the project in which many Basque companies are involved.
The prestigious London School of Economics is to host a series of conferences, which will be inaugurated by the Lehendakari and will continue with the intervention of the Minister for Health, Rafael Bengoa, with a conference on the Basque health system entitled "Transforming the health system: the perspective of the Basque Country", on the 11th of May. In October the head of Mondragón Internacional will address the subject of cooperativism. The Lehendakari will deliver an address on social democracy and the importance of the welfare state within the series of talks entitled "The Basque Country: a modern, cohesive society founded on shared responsibility".
On the following day, the Lehendakari will head a visit to the ISIS Spallation Neutron Source to present the diffractometer built entirely by Basque industry, the fruit of agreements signed with Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and with ESS-Bilbao. The HiPR he will be presenting is a state-of-the-art diffractometer optimised for working on samples subjected to very high pressures of up to 250,000 atmospheres.
