The Basque Government improves economic aid to families by extending them to three annual payments for a second daughter or son

The Minister of Employment and Social Policies, Beatriz Artolazabal, explained that the modification of the decree of economic aid to support families with dependent children approved "will extend the aid for second child or second daughter. These grants will be charged for three years: in the annuity of birth, when the daughter or son reaches one year of age and when he turns two years old". In the current regulations, the aforementioned aid for the second daughter or son was charged only at birth and upon reaching one year of age.

With the new decree, framed in the recently approved IV Support Plan for Families, the second daughter or son will be entitled to receive an additional annuity of help -in the year in which the child is 2 years old-, which will range between 900 and 400 euros depending on the standardized family income. For a standardized family income equal to or less than 20,000 euros, the amount of the aid is 900 euros; for a superior to 20,000 and equal to or less than 30,000 euros, it is 500 euros; for a superior to 30,000 euros, it is 400 euros.

"In addition, it has retroactive effects. The aid will be applied to all those families that last year received the benefit corresponding to the second annuity for the second daughter or son. This will apply to all children who are two years of age in the second year of 2018 and, of course, also in the future. In other words, to all those families whose second daughters or sons were born in 2016 and later" stressed Mrs. Artolazabal.

The budget that is foreseen for the implementation of this Decree in the year 2018 is of 5,500,000 €. It will come into force as of the publication of the decree in the Basque Official Journal after its approval in the Council, and the deadline for requesting the aid will be open until December 31 for those families whose second daughter or son turns 2 years old. in 2018.

The number of families that in 2018 is expected to receive assistance for second daughter or son is approximately 6,800 families. The total number of families that in 2018 could benefit from all the modifications included in the Decree will be 7,403 families, including 400 benefited by the extension of the concept of son / daughter, including those over 18 and under 25 outstanding economically. Each file corresponds to a girl or boy so the number of affected matches the number of files and families.
