The Lehendakari opens the Haizea Wind plant, one of the largest wind power manufacturing plants
Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, the Basque Premier, this morning visited the port of Santurtzi to open the Haizea Wind marine power structure and wind tower manufacturing plant, one of the largest wind power manufacturing plants in Europe. The Basque Government’s Minister for Economic Development and Infrastructures, Arantxa Tapia, and the Chair of the Haizea Wind Board of Directors, Dámaso Quintana, were also at the ceremony.
During his speech after visiting the facilities, Lehendakari Urkullu stressed that it is a project that is driving the logistic, technological and industrial potential with an international dimension. “Stability, trust, strategy and shared work underpin this investment that is coming into service today," he explained.
Furthermore, the Lehendakari pointed out that it is an important forward-looking investment that strengthens the strategy sector for the Basque Country and re-launches the opportunities of the Port from the industrial and logical perspectives. The Lehendakari also explained that “by private companies and public institutions working together, we are going to continue consolidating the generation of economic activity and employment, the “common good” that we share.”
“The Haizea Wind project brings together all our skills. This project means we are taking a fundamental step towards consolidating the Basque Country as the European benchmark in the industrial sector of renewable energies". In this regard, Urkullu recalled that they will continue to reinforce the Basque economic ecosystem to serve competitiveness, economic development and the generation of quality job opportunities in the Basque Country.
