Offshore wind power to experience significant growth in Europe in the coming years
Bilbao Marine Energy Week was opened this morning with speeches by Javier Zarraonandia, the Basque Government’s Deputy Minister for Industry and Energy, and by the TECNLIA and BEC General Managers, Joseba Jauregizar and Xabier Basañez.
Today’s session also included the keynote speech by Xabier Viteri, Director of the Iberdrola Renewable Energies Business Division, who stressed that cutting costs in offshore wind farms is already a reality, which points towards a promising future for those projects.
The scientific-technology session will be held tomorrow and will be dedicated in full to the bimep, the marine energy research platform located just off the coast of Bizkaia to test buoys and other energy generating floating devices.
