The Lehendakari, Patxi Lopez, presided over the ceremony, also attended by the Prince and Princess of Asturias, and highlighted the importance of "pursuing a determined policy to train, foster, keep and attract the talent of our young people, because that is the quality that makes a difference in a globalised world".

The Basque Government is making a "great effort" to train young people and to generate employment not only because this sector of society has been most seriously affected by the crisis, but also "because they are necessary to ensure a future with high levels of well-being and quality of life". This was the theme of the talk presented by the Lehendakari, Patxi Lopez, at the presentation ceremony of the Novia Salcedo Awards.

Lopez, who expressed his conviction that the Basque Country will soon emerge from the crisis, demanded that everyone "free themselves from complexes and outdated ways of doing things and to make a determined effort to train, foster, keep and attract the talents of our young people because this is the quality that makes a difference in a globalised world".
