The Basque Government outlines its Open Data and transparency model for a Chilean delegation

Basque Government representatives outlined its Open Government and citizen participation model to a delegation made up of mayors and entrepreneurs from different towns in the Chilean region of La Araucanía that is currently visiting the Basque Country. The Directors of IREKIA-Open Government and of the Citizen Service, Electronic Administration and Innovation Office, Luis Petrikorena and Javier Bikandi, respectively, met with the members of this delegation. The members were interested in taking a close look at some examples that the Basque Government is applying in the field of transparency and Open Government to then transfer them, in as far as possible, to their respective municipalities.

Specifically, the Chilean delegates had the opportunity to discover at first hand the citizen participation and open data initiatives implemented by the Basque Government through the IREKIA platform, which, in the opinion of its representatives, seeks to be a "one-stop-shop" of grassroots participation, information, opinion and discussion.

The Basque Delegation in Chile coordinated the schedule for the Chilean delegation's visit to the Basque Country until tomorrow, Tuesday. It also includes meetings with representatives of the Department for Culture of Donostia-San Sebastián City Council; EUDEL, INNOBASQUE, the Bilbao Metrópli 30 association and of the Basque Institute for Competitiveness-OSKESTRA.
