ZIV Group opens a new smart meter factory in Bizkaia
Bernabé Unda stressed that it is "initiatives like this that create wealth in the Basque Country"
The Basque Government Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, today attended the opening of the new ZIV smart meter factory in the Zamudio Technology Park. The new plant will produce 2 million meters a year generating over 400 direct and indirect jobs. It has a surface area of 2,600 m2 divided into 2 floors. The facilities include an officially approved main metrologic laboratory, a powerful R&D&i and engineering team and a state-of-the-art manufacturing line, endowed with the latest instruments and equipment on the market, including 2 automatic laser marking equipment.
Norberto Santiago, ZIV chairman, gave a presentation and welcomed the guests. The Mayor of Zamudio, Igotz López Torre, and Bernabé Unda then spoke. Minister Soria then ended the ceremony after giving a brief speech before the guests were shown around the new facilities and signed the Visitors' Book.
During his speech, Unda wanted to recall that "we believe in internationalisation, the companies that have turned their sights abroad are the ones that are best surviving the crisis".
