The Basque Country Stand, a Benchmark at the 38th Salón Gourmets in Madrid

Raul Perez Iratxeta, Deputy Minister of Food and Rural Development of the Basque Government, participated this morning in the opening of the 38th Salón Gourmets in Madrid, held this week at IFEMA Madrid. “This event is a benchmark for promoting Basque companies in the high-quality food and gastronomy sector, with 2,000 exhibitors, more than 100,000 professional visitors, 85 countries represented, and a turnover exceeding 230 million euros,” he explained.

The Basque Government, through its Euskadi Basque Country brand, is supporting the collective participation of Basque companies at this European fair dedicated to the finest food products. “In this 2025 edition, we are showcasing more than 30 companies that represent the best of our gastronomy: preserves, charcuterie, sweets, meat products, processed foods, wines, and beverages... All united by a shared commitment: quality products, with clear origins, admired wherever they go,” Iratxeta emphasised.

The Basque stand is in Hall 3 /3D40. This year, the Euskadi Basque Country stand features 31 Basque companies and includes the BASQUE TXOKOA space. Throughout the fair, several promotional activities will take place in this space, which simulates a traditional gastronomic society or "txoko.”

On Tuesday, 8 April, there will be wine tastings with Mikel Garaizabal and Jose Ignacio Junguitu, and on Wednesday, 9 April, a distillate tasting with Jose Luis Navarro and Manuel Iturregi. These events will be attended by various sector guests, influencers, and the gastronomic press. The companies participating in the Basque Country space have reserved the Basque Txokoa for their promotional activities. Additionally, other Basque companies will be present at the 2025 Gourmets Fair in different pavilions independently. “Their presence further strengthens the prominence of the Basque sector at the Fair,” says Perez Iratxeta.
