The US sculptor Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) is the artist to inaugurate the first temporary exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 2010. Rauschenberg had the skills to find new and often improved uses for what others threw away. "Gluts" (1986-95) is the perfect example of this. The exhibition compiles different objects such as traffic signs, exhaust pipes, blinds or radiator grillers to create new and original items. According to Rauschenberg, the economic crisis in his home state Texas inspired his work. This is the second retrospective that the museum dedicates to the artist. It will be running until September 12th.
